A test post

We are going through this process to see how to update and edit a blog using the Windows Live Writer. There are many types of blog options out there. Each one has their own way of editing. As we have noticed, many of them are sub-par at best. This interface appears to be quite good as it matches the theme and input type of the blog in question.

As you jump to the next paragraph, it does allow you to add nicely formatted paragraphs. Let’s see how this blog editor handles pictures.

This picture was taken in July when we visited Washington DC. There is a park in Virginia called Burke Lake Park. There are many kid-oriented activities in the park including a train ride, a carousel and a boat launch. You might wonder how kids would enjoy a boat launch. But a casual look on the water indicates that many kids were in canoes, boats and other floating devices having a great time.

In general, this system appears to work pretty well. Let’s see how it posts messages onto the actual blog.

It looks like the system posted the draft just fine. Let’s try posting the actual post.

Riding the Bus

The kids and I got to go to an SU Basketball game last weekend. It was one of those special days with Daddy. We tried to find a parking spot close to campus. But, it seems like more and more streets are being blocked off and parking isn't allowed. After driving around for a while, we decided to park near Manley Field house and take the free bus ride to campus.

The kids really like to ride the bus and riding this particular bus reminded them of their trip to New York City. Gung-gung, their grandfather, took them on a trip to Manhattan and they took a bus from Grand Central to Central Park. This bus ride was much shorter and much cheaper (i.e. FREE!).

The bus rides to the game and from the game were both lots of fun. On the ride back, both girls ended up picking the exact same seats. They liked to have "assigned seats."

Once we got to the Dome, the kids had a lot of fun. They kept trying to look for "The Funny Orange Guy," which is Otto the Orange, SU's mascot. Of course, once I pulled out the camera, both girls wanted to take a picture. I, of course, had to take a picture of them first.

After the game was over, I asked them both what the most fun part was. They both answered "The bus ride!!" I asked them again, hoping to get some response about the basketball or the dome or the court. They answered, "The game was boring, but the popcorn and lemonade was fun!"

First Fish

It's one of those first-time occasions that you want to try to capture forever. I actually don't remember the first fish that I ever caught. I do remember going fishing with my dad and brothers. They were usually typical summer nights. We would stay out on the boat until the sun reached the top of the trees. That was our time limit so that we'd still have enough time to get back to the boat lunch, pull the boat out of the water and secure everything before it got too dark.

Now that I have my own kids, our family has a house on the same lake that I used to fish. So I can drive up with my kids anytime, break out some worms and give them the same sense of excitement that I had while growing up. You can't help but have some excitement watching your own kids hold a fish that they caught with their own fishing pole. It's a different kind of excitement now. But, just like the commercial says, it's priceless.
